What does a typical day look like at Pillar House?
Days at Pillar House balance structure with independence. Residents are expected to maintain a steady routine, which may include work, school, outpatient treatment, volunteering, or recovery meetings. The house also includes daily chores, community check-ins, quiet hours, curfews, and shared expectations. While we provide accountability and support, residents maintain autonomy and build real-world routines to support long-term sobriety.
What is the admissions process like?
The admissions process begins with a brief phone screening. If it appears to be a good fit, we schedule a follow-up interview (in person or virtual), review house expectations, and coordinate a move-in date. Acceptance is based on readiness, motivation, and availability, not perfection.
What kind of structure or support does Pillar House provide?
Pillar House offers a community-oriented, recovery-focused environment with daily routines, shared responsibilities, and regular house meetings. We are not a clinical facility, but we strongly support residents in attending therapy, outpatient programs, 12-step meetings, and other outside resources. Residents also benefit from life-skills support, peer accountability, and guidance from an on-site house manager.
Who is eligible to apply to Pillar House?
Pillar House is open to men ages 18 and older who are committed to living sober and actively participating in a structured recovery environment. We welcome individuals coming directly from detox or treatment, as well as those who have begun their recovery independently. While 30 days of sobriety is encouraged, it is not always required. Motivation and willingness to grow matter most."

What rules do residents need to follow?
Pillar House maintains clear expectations to protect the safety and sobriety of the community. Key rules include abstinence from drugs and alcohol, curfews, mandatory check-ins, attendance at recovery-related meetings, participation in household chores, and respectful behavior. Full guidelines are reviewed during orientation and provided in the resident handbook.
How does Pillar House handle relapse?
Relapse is addressed with both compassion and firm boundaries. In most cases, a resident who uses drugs or alcohol will need to leave the house immediately to maintain community safety. Re-entry may be possible after detox or stabilization. Complete policies are reviewed confidentially during the intake process.
Are there clinical or educational services on-site?
Pillar House does not provide therapy, medical care, or clinical treatment on-site. However, we actively encourage residents to pursue outpatient treatment, counseling, support groups, educational programs, or employment. We happily assist residents in connecting with external recovery resources that support their goals.
What does it cost to live at Pillar House, and what’s included?
Rent is $200 per week or $750 per month, which includes housing, utilities, WiFi, shared common spaces, regular check-ins, and support from house leadership. Residents are responsible for their own food and personal items. Limited scholarships or sliding-scale assistance may be available.
